MAPOLY Students To Shut Down Abeokuta Next Week #BlackWeek

Following the failure of the Ogun state government to meet up with the
demands of the students’ leaders, students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) are set to embark on a ‘one-week’ protest which is have tagged ‘Black Week’ in the state capital, Abeokuta.
This was disclosed on Thursday in a statement signed and released online by the school’s Students’ leaders.
it would be recalled that the students’ leaders had earlier issued to the state government a ‘one-week’ ultimatum to meet with their demands
The students after the expiration of the ultimatum at 11:59pm on Tuesday claimed that the Ogun State government has no good intention for the entire students of MAPOLY other than causing stagnation to their future because of its selfish political agenda.
The statement reads, "We believe that the Ogun State Government has no good plan for the entire student of MAPOLY but to put all our glittering futures on hold because of its selfish political agenda."
The statement also spelt out the consequences that is being risked if students of the institution fail to write their examinations before January 15, 2017.
The consequences are extra year for HND 2 and ND 2 students, present ND2 students will tentatively spend two years on Industrial Training (IT), HND 2 students would be unable to join their compatriots for NYSC April/May batch, ND1 students to spend elongated time on SIWES, thereby extending their expected two years of study, landlord and students’ fracas over due house rent.

Meanwhile, the students’ leaders also appealed to all students to see this as a collective responsibility by coming to Abeokuta for the massive protest.
"It will be important for all of us to see this as collective duty by coming to Abeokuta for this massive protest, which we believe will resonate our grievances to the Governor."
However, the students’ leaders who in the statement called for support from National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) national and state, National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) national, and National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) national, also affirmed that they will not hesitate to keep holding Abeokuta Metropolis into ransom until their demands are met judiciously.
